FOR GUITARISTS WHO KNOW THEIR CHORDS, AND STILL PLAY THE SAME THREE IDEAS
The 15-minute daily routine that makes you addicted to playing your guitar
One chord progression a week. Five skills, Monday to Friday. A full year of knowing exactly what to practise, every single day.
Let me guess
You know your open chords. You can strum a few songs. Maybe you have learned a fingerpicking piece you're quite proud of.
And still, every time you sit down to practise, the same thing happens. You noodle the same three ideas. You watch another YouTube lesson. You try a bit of this, a bit of that. Thirty minutes go by, and nothing connects.
I mean, think about it. How many guitar videos have you watched this year? Hundreds, probably. And how much better do you actually play?
It's not because you're lazy. It's not talent. It's something much simpler, and much easier to fix.
You don't have a lessons problem. You have a routine problem.
The internet gave us infinite lessons and took away the one thing every musician actually needs: an order to learn them in.
When I entered the Conservatory at 16, nobody handed me ten thousand random videos. I had a routine. This to practise today, this tomorrow, this next week. Every day built on the day before. That's how real progress works, and it has not changed in three hundred years of teaching guitar.
So I built that routine for you. It's called the Daily Guitar Quest, and it works like this.
One week in the Quest
Every week, we focus on one chord progression, from a popular song or one of my original compositions. Then each day, we practise that same progression through a different skill:
Monday
Fingerstyle. A small piece that develops your fingerstyle technique. Free stroke, rest stroke, arpeggios, Travis picking, percussive fingerstyle.
Tuesday
Strumming. Rhythm day. Full strumming, palm muting, single-note strumming, a new rhythmic idea every week.
Wednesday
Technique. Right hand and left hand. Slides, legato, tremolo, alternate picking, the elements that make everything easier.
Thursday
Creativity. We add a melody to the chords, and your progression starts to sound like music you made.
Friday
Performing. We put the whole week together into one beautiful piece you can actually play for someone.
Sat + Sun
Rest, or review. You have a life. The routine knows it.
Fifteen minutes a day. That's the whole ask. Not because fifteen minutes is magic, but because fifteen focused minutes, in the right order, every day, beats two disorganised hours on a Sunday. Every time.
A real example. Suppose this week's progression is F, G, A minor, G6, very close to Hans Zimmer's Interstellar theme. Monday you fingerpick it. Tuesday you learn a strumming pattern that gives it a pulse. Wednesday we work the pull-offs inside it. Thursday we lay a melody on top. Friday you play the finished piece, start to end.
One progression. Five skills. One week. And you feel it.

What Students are Saying
Meet your teacher
I'm Marco Cirillo. I started classical guitar at 11, entered the Conservatory of Salerno at 16, and graduated in classical guitar at 21. I refined modern guitar in Rome with masters like Umberto Fiorentino and Fabio Zeppetella, then spent ten years in London playing and teaching. For the last eight years I've been teaching guitar and ukulele to hundreds of thousands of people on YouTube.
These days I live near Naples with my son Alex, and I get to do the thing I love most: helping people fall in love with playing, every single day.
Keep playing,
Marco
Is the Daily Guitar Quest for you?
It's for you if:
- You know your open chords: C, D, E, G, A minor, E minor, D minor
- You can manage barre chords like F and B minor, even imperfectly
- You can strum easy songs and change chords without stopping
- You've learned at least one fingerpicking piece
It's not for you if you're picking up the guitar for the very first time (start with a beginner course, then come back, I'll be here), or you're an electric player chasing high-gain solos. This is acoustic and classical, and proudly so.

For context: one month of weekly private lessons with a good teacher costs more than this. Guitar subscription sites charge $20 to $30 a month, every month, forever. The Quest is one payment, for a routine that lasts you years.
